Don't Miss It!

Don't miss Edge... but certainly don't miss the reason you do not have school tomorrow, and please don't miss the reason for Easter. For those who follow Christ, this is the most important time of the year. Please come tomorrow night as we will be remembering the death of Christ through some really cool experiences, and I really do not think you will want to miss this. Join us tomorrow night and bring a friend or two. It will be a great night of hanging out, having fun, and experiencing the unbelievable power Christ's death has on YOUR life! Why did Christ have to die? What was so significant about his death? How has it changed the world? This is amazing stuff. Come and see.

I cannot wait for tomorrow!! I will be there-absoulutly! When i saw that pic you put upIt reminded me of when my parents described how Jesus was beaten-In the bible somtimes all it says is one verse:

Mark 15:15
Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

All it says is "He had Jesus flogged" That one tiny section doesn't describe ANYTHING!! Flogged means to be beaten with a whip, stick, strap etc. Jesus got 49 lashes with a whip that probaby had, sharp glass or metal in it. When it was dragged across his back it cut into him-and that happened 49 times! I'm not going to go into too many details but after you are flogged you are one big bloody mess. It's not pretty.

My parents and brothers have seen the Passion. In fact we have it. It's rated R. Because, my mom said, of the crucifiction. I am allowed to watch it, my parents said so, but to tell you, I don't really want to. I'm not the really squeamish type either. But what from I've heard of the crucifition that was shown on the Passion, well, just the description kinda spooked me. Think of if you had nail hammered into each hand to a wood cross-straight though flesh, muscle, bone....Think of if you hung up there and for every breath you had to push up on bleeding, broken feet, until you finally died, in front of the crowed just a week before that had laid palm branches and cloaks out to your welcome shouting out "Hosanna!" Then later you hear the same crowd shouting "Crucify him! Crucify Him!"

Wow....that is one looong comment...Well enough with the sad. Jesus died for us...so that WE could be saved. He rose from the grave three days after his death. He gave the umtimate penalty, because he loves us. And heck, we don't deserve it at all! God loved us, and still loves us, so much he chose to die for us.

Ok well now I'm really rinished. I'll bet you who are reading this are thinking, "When is this comment going to END!" So now I'm really and finally done.

If you just stop for a momment and think of some of the worst pain you can think of( then multiply that by about 50) you can start to think about how Jesus felt.Being lashed( which you can compare to about a thousand times worse as snaping a rubber band down on your stomach) and then carrying the thing that HE would die on down the streets as He's being mocked by people who just recently praised him, and then dying on a wooden cross giving up everything. And its not just physical pain. Think if you had been around with your father for an infinite amount of time then after living aperfect life without one wrongdoing not one sin and then your sentenced to die and your father turns his back on you because he is not able to look at you in your last momments before death. think about the emmotional pain Jesus must have gone through. Along with the physical pain and still going through with it. That is the perfect example of giving it all up to God for not to us but his name be the glory. I know I'm going to take a momment tommorow just to sit and think, maybe read my bible, and just try to see what Jesus must have gone through. Its strange that what some people see as the greatest holidays was in fact one of the saddest and darkest days in history. For man killed the Son. I know it was for a great reason but it is still a sad day to me. The death the storm the earth splitting open.

Outside of the death of Jesus there is one thing from this story that i will always remember. the soldier who dropped his sword and believed as he creid for forgiveness.

We aren't here just because HE sent his Son. We are here because HE loved us more than HImself and went through with it so that we could live.

who would you rather be the soldier who believed or the mockers?
