It's cold out there...

Last night, I took a walk outside with a friend and it was so cold, it was bone chilling. All I could think about was getting back inside! I started to think about what it would be like to be a homeless person on a freezing night like that. Then I started to thank God for giving me a warm house and food and clothes and all of that. Then I began to think that even though God gave me all of those great things, He gave me something way more important. I started to realize that the most important thing I need to thank God for is the gift of Jesus Christ, his death to cover my sins, and his ressurrection to prove that He was God. What if I had no home, no warmth, no food, no family, no friends, and all I had was the clothes on my back and well....Jesus Christ. THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH! He is all that I need and really, if you know Christ as your Savior, that is all you need.

What if you had nothing today? If you were homeless. Would you still be grateful to have Jesus Christ as your Savior? Food for thought!

todd, u r sooo right. jesus is all we really need.

i agree--the bible says that all we'll ever need jesus will provide. we were just talking about something like this in bible the other day--just because some people are very unfortunate or not as well off as us, it doesnt necessarily mean that they did something wrong or unholy. same goes for us--we're not as blessed as we are because we did something great for god.

Wow.......that is some speech you made there Todd! XP But I agree with Alex, Jesus is all we really need and It would be cool if the Edge staff would start a fundraiser for the homeless, and that everyone would bring in an article of clothing or hats, mittens, etc.
Defenitley food for thought! ^-^

Man. That's deep. You are very right. Jesus is all we need to live our lives. This really gets us to think about what we need to do to help others come to Jesus.

Hey!! I think that if I was homless and all i had was Jesus that would be enough!! Jesus would help me through my life and I would be O.K.!!If i was homeless I think that it would be hard to live during the winter but god would be there with me and he would be there to help me. But i think it's hard for homeless people because since they don't know god and they probably don't go to church it would be cool if i could go around teaching the homless about him!! Hey, that might be a cool thing to do when I'm old enough to talk to strangers!! It must be really difficult to sleep outside every day in winter..... Mabey i cuold build a house or an igloo out of smow and then invite people to stay in it even though i don't know how my mom would feel with a stranger in the backyard... But mabey that's somethng that i could do in my later years.

Anyone else who reads this please respond about your thoughts. Har har har!!

aint that the sad lonely truth in the world. I mean I have troouble going without tv for a day. I never thought about not havin a house. everyone give a prayer for those people and help them if you can. Be the good samaritan.

evan, luisiana is the only state down there that is not doing much and complaining because it is democratic! Florida, on the other hand, is republican and is rebilding fine because all the democrates just complain and want goerge bush to do everything for them. We as Christians can't do everything but with god's help we could grow in numbers and numbers help!!!!! =) I hope you understand how I look at this situation. =)

All of these coments started with the cold outside...that's awsome!!!!!
God is all we need cause he is our selter, food, and everflowing fountain of joy! If I put myself in a homeless person's shoes, I would think that I would travel in a group of people and shared all that I might be carrying with me. Showing love to others is important if you want to get loved back! #2 l.o.l. =)

Evan, I agree with your comments about George Bush, and the war. I hate how it seems like he doesn't care about anything but the war.
Oh yeah...
What's up with the har har har?!

Hey guys, thanks for your comments on this topic. There are some good ones. It's good to get your opionions, however, many of you are jumping to conclusions about George Bush and the war and all of that. Please only make those comments when you know more about the whole situation. One man, Goerge Bush, can't fix everything, but that is the cool part about us following Jesus...we can take initiative and help others because that is what God calls us to do. Pray for George Bush because he has a very big job, and he is also a follower of Jesus Christ. He needs our prayers.

Hey peeps todd is right.we don't know everything there is to know about george. i mean if he just 4got about the war and didn't care we would be in some serious troule. i sure he hasn't forgotten about new orleans either-he's got the U.S. on his hands and he's probably trying to do his best.

That's right. Im sorry for saying that because I didnt really think HARD about it. I now take it back Har har har!!

Wow that is really really deep. I have never really thought about that before. I know a lot of people are saying that they would be happy with nothing except Jesus in their hearts but I don't know. To be totally honest I think it would be kind of hard to be thankful when you have nothing and you are freezing. I know I would be at least a little thankful, but it would be kind of hard. It is so much easier to be thankful when you are in a cozy, warm little house and watch pretty snowflakes fall :) But it is true that Jesus is all that we need, and with Him we have all that we could possibly want. That's a really good thing to think about.

Todd, it is spelled GEORGE, not GOERGE. Once a kid in my sunday school class said his name was George and had on a name tag that said GOERGE. I knew him, and I knew his name, and I knew how to spell George.

Ps: what happened to Becky? Maybe she noticed people wouldn't get candy for comments any more and stopped. Sorry I was gone for a while, but I was having headaches. Mom said it might have to do with staring at the computer.

Dear small group,
One of you now knows who I am if she has put the connections together. Please don't tell anyone who I am. You may not even go on the blog, but I hope you do.

well Who?? ,
you just gave out a clue: you are a girl-right??? If not sorry cause you said "One of you know knows who I am if SHE has put the connections together" WHen you wrote 2 your small group. We are only put in small groups boys w/ boys and girls w/ girls. I'm just saying-I don't know who you are though even if I know you are a girl.

dang that looks like one cold dude

Anonymous said...

I said I was a girl earlier! That proves I did not say "I am a barbie BOY too." Hee hee! I'm so smart.

Anonymous said...

Ps: the "w" in "who??" is never capitalized, maggie.

Anonymous said...

well if it's your "name" it should be capitalized. oh well and anyways i never saw the comment you posted when you said you were a girl. where was it????

Anonymous said...

P.S.
who??, (there i didn't capitalize it)
I'm not saying you should get rid of who?? but why not just use you real name? just suggesting. hey you could even win Comment of the Week if you used a real name. I'm not saying for you to change it but just wondering.

Anonymous said...

THanks. Who?? isn't really my name (By the way, that was only capitalized because it was the beginning of a sentence). If people keep copying me and using who??, though, I will reveal myself to Todd. Then whoever is copying who?? will be out of it!

P.s.:
I can't remember where it was.
