The last couple days have been really cold...I mean the kind of cold that freezes the snot in your nose. Maybe not as cold as this guy has to be in this picture, but very cold! These kind of days make me want to curl up in bed and just hibernate for days and days just like bears and squirrels. Why can't human's hibernate? Sometimes, I am so unmotivated to get up in the morning because I am tired and cold. How many of you have ever felt like that? What is your motivation for getting up? Usually, if there is something to look forward to that day, you want to get up. But other than that, what is your motivation? Have you ever thought about how you are just alive and God gave you another day? Try thinking about that. Try thinking about some other people who may not make it to see another day and yet God allowed you to have another day. Tomorrow morning when you wake up, thank God for another day and be motivated to throw yourself out of bed and get your day started.

HABITS challenge
All right, everybody, who will take on this challenge that I gave this morning at Edge?
Memorize 1 Corinthians 10:13! Look it up, read over it, memorize it, and hide it in your heart. Remember, hiding God's Word in your heart will change your life!

Congrats Team Bahamas!
The 2007 Edge Games Champion is Team Bahamas! Way to go all you Bahamians. You fought hard from last place after the first week to this year's champs. One of the ways that you won the competition was with a week 3 record roster of over 70 students on your team, with each student worth 4,000 points. I am proud of your team, and all the teams that made The Edge Games so much fun! Nice job bringing friends too. We had 312 students there last night, and all the more that heard the awesome message of Jesus Christ!

"Try Out" Improv
Check this out about a great opportunity to use your gifts for God's glory:
Did you know HCC has an improv troupe "Out of the Blue" that performs shows like "Whose Line Is It Anyway"? Our troupe is faith-based -- without the commercials, Wayne Brady, or any viewer discretion advised (we're clean). Our goal is to reach non-believers in a different way to spread the Word of Christ. OOTB is part of Student Ministries and troupe members are middle, high school & college students.
If you've ever thought about doing comedy, drama or improv, experienced or not, please give us a try out. You'll find out more about what we do, and then you'll play along during a regular troupe practice. There's no obligation. If you're interested, we'll talk from there. If not, that's ok too. Try Outs are this Sunday (1/28) 4-6 in the High School Room. We especially need girls and high school students, but ALL are welcome. Questions? Email Kathleen Walder at KSWalder@neo.rr.com

COW
The comment of the week this week is short, but the reason it has won comment of the week is because this person is new to Edge which, by the way, is what The Edge Games is all about, and he also posted on the blog which is awesome! So congrats Patrick, and I am not sure exactly who you are, but I would love to meet you!
Patrick said...
I really enjoyed the games. Andy invited me from Cambodia. Had a blast and can't wait for next week.

Way to go Andy Perkins for inviting Patrick to The Edge Games! We hope to see you start coming to Edge more, Patrick! Everybody who is an Edge regular, give Patrick some love for his comment and for checking out our blog!
I would also like to post this comment even though it is from an anonymous commenter, it shows us what The Edge Games is all about and that is bringing new students and sharing Christ with them along with showing them that church can be fun.
Edge is soooooooo much fun. i never went to church before and i thought it was just boring and dumb. i thought all you did was sit aroud listening to the paster...BOY! did you prove me WRONG!!!!!! I had soooooooo much fun at the games. when my friend told me about it i was like "uh well i dunno...." 'cause i made the connection about the whole "Church" idea. but it was so much fun!!!!!!!!! I never knew church could be so much fun'n'stuf!!! sooooo anyway i was on cambodia and i think you are really cool.......

A word about bribes
I just thought I would talk real quick about bribing me or others for Edge Games points. As you have seen, bribing is a way to get points, but the usual bribes aren't impressing me. Anyway, I have received a few emails and some notes/signs on my door. That is great, but the same old things will not get points. However, all bribes aside, the best way to get points going into the final week will be to bring friends. I want you guys to remember the purpose of this event too. Even though it is a LOT of fun and every team wants to win, remember that many new students will hear about Jesus Christ for the first time. So pray for the night and pray that some students come to know Christ this Friday night!

Pepsi/Dr. Pepper...let's settle this
There has been a lot of talk back on forth on the debate between pepsi and dr. pepper. Let me say this, I have no problem with either kind of pop. They are ok, but if you want the best, you have got to go with Coca Cola! Coke is the best...hands down! The taste is smooth, tingly, and refreshing. There is nothing like an ice cold coke over ice after a long day. So, you can argue all you want about pepsi and dr. pepper, but those are both JV compared to Coke.
[Editor's Note] Let's see if we can try to keep all further debate on our respective soft drink of choice limited to this post. Thanks. [End Note]

They are coming!
The Edge Games are coming in 2 days! The countdown is on and many preparations are being made for this year's games. I want to let everyone know if you haven't already that you need to invite a friend that doesn't know Christ or has never been to church. This event is for those people. It is going to be a lot of fun! There will be some classic games, some new games, and some new tricks up our sleeves, but it is guaranteed to be a great time!

The Edge Games
The Edge Games is coming next Friday, and I hope you all are ready. It's going to be bigger and better than last year! I want everyone to remember the purpose of The Edge Games, and that is to bring unsaved, unchurched friends to this event so that they hear about Christ for the first time and come to know Him. Think about who you want to invite and ask them now. It's going to be a great time! Check out the details on this flyer-->
There is no Edge this Friday because the Edge Games will happen the next 3 Fridays. Get pumped, get psyched, get crazy, cause here they come!

AGOW
Hey Edge people, Christmas break is over and we are now getting back into the swing of things. Get back into the "swing of things" with a little mini golf. My score for 18 holes was a 43. Watch out for the last hole, it will get you.
You can expect daily posts now that things are back to normal! Have a great day and enjoy a little minigolf.
